Translate with ChatGPT is a Chrome extension that helps users translate text they explicitly select on webpages.
Data the extension handles
The extension accesses only text explicitly selected by the user when using the translation feature.
Selected text may be stored temporarily in Chrome session storage solely to pass it to a newly opened ChatGPT tab. The temporary data is removed after it is retrieved.
The extension also stores preferences such as the user's selected target language, floating button size, and opacity using Chrome storage.
How data is used
Selected text is used only to prepare a translation prompt in ChatGPT.
The extension does not automatically submit the prompt. The user can review and choose whether to send it.
Data sharing
Translate with ChatGPT does not send user data to servers operated by the extension developer.
When the user chooses to submit a prepared prompt to ChatGPT, that interaction is subject to ChatGPT/OpenAI's own terms and privacy practices.
Data selling and advertising
The extension does not sell user data.
User data is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's translation functionality.
Remote code
The extension does not execute remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly. All executable extension code is included in the extension package.
Data retention
Selected text stored in Chrome session storage is temporary and is removed after retrieval.
Extension preferences remain in Chrome storage until changed by the user or the extension is removed.
